VCI Company Customers: Lifeline and Link-Up Information

Lifeline is a government program that offers qualified people a discount on their phone bill.

How do I know if I'm eligible?

You're eligible for Lifeline if you participate in any of the following programs:

Food Stamps
Supplemental Security Income
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Programs (LIHEAP)
Medicaid Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8)
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
National School Lunch free lunch program

Are there any restrictions?
Lifeline is only available for one line per household. The name on your phone bill must match
the name of the participant who is eligible for the program.

How do I apply?
To apply for Lifeline call 1- 800- 923-8375. You will be asked to certify under penalty of perjury that you participate in one of the eligible programs listed above.

How do I continue to receive Lifeline benefits?
Eligibility is reviewed periodically. Your benefits will be discontinued when you no longer meet eligibility
requirements or your account becomes delinquent.

There are other options that can help you save money, such as free toll blocking

Link-Up  helps households pay the installation charge for telephone service. This program pays some of the cost of installing local service in your home,
but Link-Up does not cover the cost of wiring inside your home.

How much will I save by using Link-Up?
Link-Up will pay 50% of your installation charges. The maximum benefit is $30.00.

How do I know if I am eligible?
If you are eligible for Lifeline, you are eligible for Link-Up.

Does Link-Up have any restrictions?
Link-Up support is only available to offset the costs of activating telephone services or moving services to a new location.

How do I apply?
To apply for Link-Up call 1- 800- 923-8375. You will follow the same application process as Lifeline and provide the same proof of eligibility as Lifeline. 

Being a Lifeline or Link-Up customer does not protect you from being disconnected if you fail to pay your telephone bill.
